its the little things

Sometimes I tend to get caught up in life and the stress and worry it can bring.  I am sure most of you can relate.  This print is a great reminder to slow things down and enjoy the moment.

My in-laws come in town today and I know this can be a stressful event for some, but I plan to enjoy every minute.  Especially my mother-in-law's cooking.  It's always nice to get a break from the kitchen :)

friday's five favorites: blik

I first came across this awesome website through Lynn's blog.  My brain is constantly re-decorating my house and I just love finding new and creative ideas.  I have always been a little hesitant with the idea of decals, but this site has some really unique options that could easily change my mind.
There is a huge variety of decals on Blik; it would almost be impossible not to find one that fits in your home.  How do you feel about decals?  Would you ever use one in your home?

These butterflies would look perfect in my niece's room.
This is such a great idea to spice up a plain mirror.
 How cool are these?!
These floor decals are probably my fave.  I have no idea how I would use them, but they are awesome.
These dots would go great in a kids room, play room or maybe even a laundry room.

friday's five favorites: chatty crafty

I am always looking for new and interesting things to do in my town.  This weekend there will be an indie craft show here in Chattanooga called Chatty Crafty.  I am really excited to check it out and see what unique things I can find.  We have had threats of thunderstorms pretty much everyday, so I am hoping the weather will hold up for this event.  I checked out some of the vendors that are going to be there and I wanted to share with you five of my favorite things that I found.

I just love this vintage brass owl.  I think it would fit perfectly in either our living room or office.

A chalkboard pendant is such an awesome idea.  I would love personalizing it for each occasion.

This print is a great reminder of all the things I have in my life to be thankful for.

Lately I have really been loving the look of leather bracelets.  This one would be perfect for everyday wear.

I love the look of this fabric wall art.  It would look so adorable in a girls nursery/bedroom.

food for thought by hubby

hey guys. hubby here. amber's pretty tired tonight and asked if i wanted to write something. so bare with me...it caught me off guard. let me just say that this is the hardest thing to do and i have crazy respect for people who write blogs. you guys blog about everything, and make it look so easy! so with that said, this is what i came up with. remember, i had very little time.

i took this picture when we went to savannah, ga. here. i really liked it because it made me think what if every business had this policy? but better yet--what if everyone just treated each other with this kind of thinking?

food for thought.

okay. that's all i got for tonight. short and sweet. (just like amber) and who knows, maybe next time i'll surprise you with an outfit post!

sunset.

I went to a special spot the other night and watched the sunset.  It was breathtaking.
If ever you need a moment to clear your head, I recommend finding a quite place with a view and watching the sun slowly and then quickly set.  It is truly a beautiful and peaceful thing.
God is good.
I think I would like to have a house one day with a view like this.  Wouldn't you?

gorgeous nursery

This week has fallen quite short of being a good week.  I tried really hard to be positive, but I guess not every week can be a good one.  Thus, I am extremely grateful that it is finally the weekend.  Hooray!!

One thing that made me smile this week was this absolutely gorgeous nursery I came across on Made by Girl (which she found on Cape27).  When I first saw it, it literally gave me butterflies. It is beautiful and inspiring.   No I am not pregnant, but I do have my occasional days of baby fever.  Once Jason starts school (in May), he will be in school for 27 months, so the plan is to start our family once he graduates or at least is super close to graduating.
I would like to have 5 kids (3 biological and 2 adopted).  Some people, okay most people, think I am crazy, but I have always wanted to have a big family.  And I have always had a great desire to adopt.  I realize I say all this before I have even had 1 child, so maybe my feelings will change.  Who knows, but right now this is how I feel :)

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!

office inspiration

Today I wanted to share some inspiration with you from a fabulous new blog I found today, Honey We're Home. I can tell this blog will easily become one of my daily reads.
One of our next projects on our list is our office. And I just love how Megan designed her office. My hubby probably wouldn't care for the color scheme (even though I think it's amazing), but that is something we can switch up easily.

Now for some exciting news, today hubby and I are featured over at Tieka's blog for her Guy Behind the Camera series. I have been a reader of Tieka's blog for a while now; if you aren't following her already, you should definitely check it out!!

Happy Weekend Friends!!!

good to know

I have been grouchy and complaining the last few days and today just may have been the worst. It probably wasn't an accident that I came across this poster.
Sometimes you just need a friendly reminder.

i heart.

I saw this print a while ago and re-discovered it today. I just love it, because I feel like I am learning something when I look at it. haha
But really I gave my own meaning to this print - I feel like it shows how complex the heart really is. It's not just a muscle or an organ; it contains so many unique pieces that work together to serve it's purpose. Just like love. Love can be complicated, but it is so wonderful. To me, love is something that, just like the heart, has so many pieces that contribute to true happiness. These pieces can be complicated or simple.
I want to share with you ten things that I feel represent love.
  1. When my hubby rubs/scratches my back without me asking him to (or when he does the dishes or cleans the house).
  2. The fact that my pets never hold a grudge against me after I get mad at them.
  3. A friend that remembers the anniversary of one of the most difficult days of my life, when I lost my dad.
  4. A kind, hand-written note.
  5. A genuine hug.
  6. When my nephew tells me he loves me and misses me (I am sure my niece feels the same way, but she can't talk yet).
  7. When my brother walked me down the isle at my wedding.
  8. Sunrise and sunset - God is amazing.
  9. Helping another person in need without expecting something in return.
  10. My hubby's unconditional support and understanding.

friendly reminder

I recently ordered this poster (along with two others) from Sew Saucy Stitches. I love it because it helps me remember that even when I have a bad day or a boring day or a sad day, I am still so blessed. God is good to me and sometimes it's nice to have a friendly reminder.

I can't wait to receive my posters. I already have a place picked out for them :)

why haven't i diy (done it yet)

I would really like to do this with my jewelry. I have seen it done a few different times and love it every time I see it. I think it may be my turn to try it.

summer party

I would like to have a dinner party like this before summer is over. Doesn't it just look like a great time?

fully content

Just looking at this photo makes me feel more realxed. She just looks so peaceful and content with where she is at that very moment. I just know that I will have this feeling while I am in Idaho. I would only be so lucky to capture it on camera. I get butterflies thinking about this.

weekend inspiration

Lately I have been really into reading design blogs and looking for new and fresh inspiration. I have been working on making over my house room by room and I am constantly looking for unique and fun ideas. This weekend I will continue working on my breakfast area; I will be excited when I finally get it finished.

I wanted to share with you some photos that I find quite inspiring. These are all great ideas that I would love to have in my home. Just looking at the first photo makes me feel more relaxed and peaceful. What will inspire you this weekend?
