i've missed your face

I can not express how happy I am that my best friend from college, Lindsay, is in town. There is never a dull moment when we are together. Lindsay moved to California last November and I have missed her dearly since she's been gone.

Last summer it became a routine for us, along with hubby Jason and friend Anthony, to go to Bonefish Grill on Wednesday nights to listen to live music and enjoy each others company; so it only seemed fitting that we have a little Bonefish reunion to welcome her back to town. Lindsay enjoyed a burger and I tried fish tacos for the first time (verdict is that they were pretty good). We both enjoyed margaritas and Jason and Anthony joined us later in the evening when they got off work. Oh how I miss these summer weekday nights with my bestie - I can't think of a better to break up a monotonous work week.

printer's letter stand from anthropologie

I am forever looking for fun and different looking decor for my house (like here). I would love to eventually start some DIY projects, but until then I will depend on others to make things for me to buy :) When I saw this "C" stand at anthropologie, I was instantly attracted to it. I walked around the store for a little while before I told Jason that I just had to have it for our house. I wasn't quite sure where I wanted to put it, but once we got home, it found the perfect place on our mantel. I have already gotten compliments on it and even Tina approves. I just love this new addition.

During our weekend away in Atlanta we stayed at the Embassy Suites at Perimeter Center. We love staying there because they have comfy beds, clean bathrooms, cool decor and a yummy breakfast. The customer service was also excellent as usual. Our room was on the top floor in the corner and it made us feel a little like VIP. We took our time getting up and ready in the morning and then headed off to the mall. One of my favorite things to do in Atlanta is shop - I can't deny it. Some really great deals were found and awesome purchases were made. I would definitely consider this another successful trip to Atlanta. I can't wait to go back.

white water

We had a blast this weekend at Six Flags White Water. We left bright and early so that we could get to the park when it opened. Before we left the house, Jason and I made sure to pack some snacks because food can get pretty spendy at theme parks; of course when they checked our bags they wouldn't let us bring in ANY food - so much for that idea. We stayed at the park from open til close and we were exhausted by the end of the day. My favorite rides were probably the Tornado, Run-a-way River and Bahama Bomb Slide. The lines were pretty long, but we didn't let that bother us. I'm glad we were able to share this fun day with our friends!

Even though we had a great time, I think it will probably be a while before we go to another water park. I really had to ignore and push aside some of my germaphobic tendencies while we were there. Some people just really amaze me. And can I just ask this question: who wears big earrings and high heels to a water park? I mean do people forget where they are going?!

finally the weekend is here

I am super exctied for this weekend. The hubby and I will be going on a weekend getaway to Atlanta. It has been way too long since we have done something like this just the two of us. We will be meeting up with some friends to go to Six Flags White Water on Saturday - which I am thrilled about! Then the rest of the time will be reserved for Jason and I to enjoy some much needed couple time :)

Hope you have a great weekend!!

bluff view rendezvous

After work today, my friend Rachel and I met up at Rembrandt's Coffee House in the Bluff View Art District where I enjoyed a white chocolate java frappe. I always have a great time when I visit this part of town; the architecture, art and atmosphere are simply beautiful.

It had been a while since Rach and I have seen each other, so it was really great to catch up. We used to be coworkers, but we both quit that organization about the same time and moved on to better opportunities. I am glad to still have her as a friend. Hopefully we can make these after work rendezvous a habit.

comfort sushi

I am feeling really sad today because my sister and the kids are gone. I came home from work and did a walk through of our now empty house. It literally brought tears to my eyes; I loved having them here.

I asked Jason to pick me up some sushi because I thought it might make me feel better; so he did and he also came home with some flowers and a romantic comedy. He is the best. The sushi filled my tummy, but it did not fill the empty space in my heart.

I know I will get to see them again soon when Jason and I visit them in Idaho in August, but I can't help but wish that they didn't live so far away.

swell dress, bathing suit from tjmaxx, aldo sunglasses

It has been so incredibly HOT and HUMID this past month. We completely skipped spring and went straight into summer this year. Anytime I have the opportunity to dip in some water, I would be a fool to pass it up. Today after work, I got to take a dip in a pool with some family and friends.
Jack is trying to get used to the idea of swimming, so we will continue working on it.

*As always friends, protect your skin and wear sunscreen*

just like when i was a kid

sometimes it feels good to take it back to the playground and do a little swinging. i can hardly believe i used to be able to do back flips off a swing. i was a hard core kid.
when i was young i loved swinging as high as i could get - it gave the illusion of being able to fly, thankfully it's still a great feeling ;)

sunday market

american eagle top, forever 21 shorts (cut by me), coach purse, aldo sunglasses and shoes

On Sunday we decided to go to the Chattanooga Market since my sister had never been and, believe it or not, I had not been yet since it started this year. The market is one of my favorite places to find unique treasures and fresh produce from local artists and vendors. The market is where I got the earrings I wore here. We saw all kinds of great things from beautiful jewelry to adorable baby clothes to unusual cutting boards all while listening to a bluegrass band play live in the background. Kaleb really enjoyed the balloon man and the Mayfield ice cream and I indulged in some delicious fresh lemonade. We all had a great time and I look forward to visiting the market again soon!

hanging around

I've mentioned before (here) that some of my favorite projects to do are house projects. I love getting our home put together and adding our personal touches everywhere. I'm not sure that you could label our house any one type of style; I definitely like bold colors and unique finds. Lately I have really gotten into online shopping (okay, it's sort of become an addiction) and have found some great sites that have unusual pieces. I thought I would share with you one of my latest finds; a super cute coat rack that we will be using to hang Jack's leashes by our back door.
