jack. zoey. tina.

{jack=dog, zoey=white cat, tina=brown cat}

Here is a little glimpse of my furry children and what they've been up to lately.  Laying around, of course.  Someone mentioned once how lucky I was that all my animals got along, and it's so true.  Jack is so gentle with the cats and they pay him back by showing him love.  They make me so proud :)

hooray for national pet week

Welcome May!
This month is going to bring a lot of great things; we leave for a little vacation this week, hubby has a birthday, hubby starts the CRNA program and it is National Pet Week.
That's right, the first week of May is National Pet Week.  So of course I am going to dedicate this post to my furry friends.  Also, hubby and I are headed a little farther south to the beach so I have some special treats planned for you guys - I have some awesome guest bloggers scheduled for you who are also going to share their furry friends! Stay tuned :)

Jack is seriously the greatest dog ever.  I would say his trade mark move is the head tilt.  His favorite things to do are take walks and play fetch.  Jack does so well with meeting new people and he is even a pro with small kids and babies.  I can't wait to take him to the beach for the first time this week - it is so fun to watch him discover new things.
Zoey is the newest pet in our house.  You might remember when we found her last fall.  She has been the perfect addition to our home.  She loves to sit in your lap and cuddle.  Zoey always seems to find the sneakiest places to lay - this photo is her in my closet.  Usually the animals are not allowed in the closet, but I'm not shocked she snuck in. ha!
Tina is our little hunter.  If ever a bug sneaks into the house, she will hunt it down and get rid of it for us.  She also has a very sweet side.  She follows me all around in the morning when I get ready; meowing and demanding my attention.  She will even wrap her arms around my leg and give me a little nibble if I ignore her for too long.  She is persistent just like her mommy :)

I also want to make a special mention that all of our animals were rescues in some way or another.  There are so many animals out there that are just waiting for a loving home.  A great site to find available animals in your area is Petfinder - that's where we found Jack.
And like Bob Barker always said, help control the pet population and have your pets spayed or neutered.

closet makeover, part 4 {ode to tjmaxx}

I found this awesome storage bench at T.J.Maxx this past weekend (the same trip i found these).  I walked by it about two times and then decided I should show it to Jason.  I figured it was probably priced over our budget, so I really just wanted to tell him this was what I was looking for.
Jason liked it and when he turned it over to see the price it was only $50!!!  I couldn't believe it!  It was marked down from $149.99 and we couldn't find anything wrong with it.  We snatched it up and now it sits perfectly in our closet.  Oh T.J.Maxx, you are too good to me.

Ode to T.J.Maxx

There is a store that I adore
They have great deals from the ceiling to the floor
Designer brands and great variety
For bargain shopping, there is no place I'd rather be
T.J.Maxx is pretty neat
Recently I found some awesome shoes for my feet
It's true I once was a T.J.Maxx employee
Too bad they didn't give employees stuff for free
Thanks T.J.Maxx for all the great deals
I'll be sure to stop in the next time I need heels

I'm thinking about a career in rhyming.  What do you think? ha!

I haven't decided yet what I want to store inside, until then it's Tina's new home. just kidding!

the fire is so delightful

Today after work, I got a massage. The last time I had one was in February, it was super overdue. Especially after all the traveling I have done lately, my body has been real achy.
To put it simply, I feel great and tonight I just plan on relaxing.

On another note, our animals LOVE sitting in front of the fire. I captured a few photos of each of them; they are sooooo cute! I just love this time of year when we can put on the fire and light up our Christmas tree :)

a halloween letter from tina

Hello everyone!!
I just wanted to share with you a little bit about my Halloween experiences.
Last year mom and dad dressed me up as rooster. I was not a fan of the idea. It was impossible to walk in! Going backwards was the easiest. When I attempted to walk forward, I felt as though I needed to be low to the ground and walk at an angle. They kept laughing at me, but I was certainly not amused. This year I put my foot down. NO COSTUMES! If they want to humiliate an animal, it's Zoey's turn or Jack even! Jack probably wouldn't mind. And Zoey, where was her initiation into the family?!
Anyway, I just wanted to wish you all a Happy Halloween!!

xoxo Tina (or princess tina if you prefer)

its a love hate relationship

This photo pretty much sums up how Tina and Zoey's relationship started out. Tina was not a fan of our new addition.

Over the last few weeks, Tina has been coming around. One minute they might be fighting, but then they will be sleeping together the next minute.

Tina is for sure the queen of the house. She is also super sweet too. We are not sure of her exact age, but we are saying she is five years old and her birthday is....okay we haven't decided that yet. (we adopted her when she was a few years old)

Zoey is getting so big! She has grown quite a bit in the last few weeks, she now weighs in at 2lbs 14oz. If you look closely you might notice that she has a bit of a cross eye. lol Her nickname has become Little One, which we find ourselves calling her that more than Zoey.

printer's letter stand from anthropologie

I am forever looking for fun and different looking decor for my house (like here). I would love to eventually start some DIY projects, but until then I will depend on others to make things for me to buy :) When I saw this "C" stand at anthropologie, I was instantly attracted to it. I walked around the store for a little while before I told Jason that I just had to have it for our house. I wasn't quite sure where I wanted to put it, but once we got home, it found the perfect place on our mantel. I have already gotten compliments on it and even Tina approves. I just love this new addition.

cat nap

Tina taking a snooze on the couch

If there is one quality of a cat that I wish I had; it would be their ability to cat nap. They can get comfortable in almost any location and in almost any position - it's like an art! Cats have the ability to become refreshed after a short 5-10 minute nap, it doesn't really seem fair does it??

Lately, okay more than lately, it seems that I have just been so exhausted and could take a nap almost everyday. However, lately my naps are few and far between. It's crazy really because when we are kids and our parents force us to take a nap, it seems like the worst thing in the world, and now that I am grown I would give almost anything for someone to force me to take a nap. I think most often I would be good with a 20 minute power nap, but if I actually am able to get comfortable and fall asleep in the middle of the day (on the weekend, of course), three hours later I am awake and half my afternoon is gone. I can't win.

Does anybody else feel this way??
