open for business

Last Friday evening,  Jason and I re-opened our super exclusive babysitters club and watched my niece and nephew for the evening so my sister could take the night off and have dinner with a friend.  We had the whole evening planned out - rice and bean burritos with avocados for dinner and a surprise trip to get frozen yogurt for dessert.  When I told my sister our plans, the first thing she said was that Adelynn doesn't like rice and has always refused to eat it.  Say what?!  I refused to accept that fact and proceeded with our burrito making plans.  We decided our method would be to just give her the burrito and don't tell her whats in it.  Turns out, it worked like a charm.  She ate (almost) the entire thing and said that she loved it.  Operation rice-lover: success.

After dinner we loaded up the car and headed out for dessert.  This definitely put us on the top of the list for best Auntie and Uncle.  We had a grand time; sampling flavors before making our final choices, carefully selecting the perfect toppings, and enjoying every last bite until there wasn't a drop of yogurt left.  And we managed to make it through the entire evening with zero meltdowns.  I think it may be time to upgrade our babysitting status to child whisperers.  Maybe.

a little backyard fun

It has been so amazing having my sister, niece and nephew in town.  Last week, I had everyone over for dinner and afterwards the kids ran around in the backyard until sweat was dripping down their brows.  Our neighbor's little girl, Ana, came over to play too.  Her and Kaleb are the same age and they always have a fun time playing.  Adelynn insisted that my brother run back and forth without stopping.  "Come on, Uncle Ryan!"  She just loves him so.  And of course Jack was in the middle of it all.  My heart is full.

ghostbusters

This week has really been a crazy one.  I am so thankful the weekend is here and I can finally kick up my feet and relax.  One thing that helped me get through this week was a hilarious video my sister sent me of my niece, Adelynn.  I have watched it over and over and laugh out loud every time.  I decided to share it with you and I hope it brings a smile to your face too!
(make sure your volume is up all the way and listen closely towards the end)

happy birthday, kaleb!

Today my nephew turns seven!  He is getting so big so fast, I can hardly believe it.  He started first grade this year and is having lots of fun.  I wish so much that he didn't live so far away!  I miss this little guy!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KALEB!!

some iphone photos of our weekend

Happy Fourth of July everyone!!
Today hubby and I are planning to take it easy and get some stuff done around the house.
Here are some iPhone photos from our weekend.

Hubby and I enjoyed an impromptu date night with dinner followed by a trip to Target.
For the kiddos last day here, we decided to hang out poolside and enjoy some food!
Isn't Adelynn so cute sporting her Barbie sunnies?! And Kaleb with his mouth of missing teeth; he even lost one while he was here.  Luckily the tooth fairy didn't mind traveling to Tennessee :)

my niece, the iphone pro

It took my niece, Adelynn, all of 5.5 seconds to figure out how to scroll through pictures on my iphone.  After another 10 seconds, she was zooming and unzooming and figuring out how to get to the menu screen.  I was amazed at how quickly she figured out this technology.

It is just so crazy to me how the times have changed.  I don't even think I had a toy phone when I was little; it was all barbies and stuffed animals.

We did have the original Nintendo and Gameboy though.  I don't know if you've ever seen an original Gameboy, but they were like the size of a small laptop.  My video game skills stopped at Mario Cart.

Jason and I often wonder how much more technology will be advanced when we have kids.  I can only imagine!

i'm excited for the weekend, how bout you?

I am going to spend my weekend having fun with these folks.
Who knows, maybe we'll have another popsicle party!
Oh and hubby and I will enjoy the last night of Riverbend with a view of some awesome fireworks.
I can't wait to share it all with you next week!
What do you all have planned?

an afternoon at the playground

The other day we took the kiddos (my niece and nephew) to the park.  They had so much fun!  Adelynn's favorite by far was the swing.  I think she just loves having the wind blow in her hair, and who could blame her?  Kaleb, of course, had fun being king of the playground and saving us all from the bad guys; my hero!

I miss those days of playing on the playground when I was younger.  Not a care in the world but swinging the highest and racing to the slide!

iphone photos of the kiddos

I have been non-stop busy all weekend long.
Since the moment I picked up these cuties on Saturday, I have been soaking up all the auntie love I can get.  I get three whole weeks with these kiddos and it's gonna be awesome.  These are photos from the airport.  Just look at those gorgeous eyes and those adorable freckles. Love.

the cutest ponytail i ever did see

My sister sent me this photo today of my niece, Adelynn.
She is sporting her first ponytail!! (my heart is melting)
I can't believe how much she has grown since the last time I saw her.
My sister will be here in June with the kiddos and to say I'm excited is a super understatement.
I miss them so so so so so much!!

the little loves of my life

The main event for my Idaho trip was my niece's first birthday. She was the most beautiful birthday girl I have ever seen. With every present opened, her face lit up with joy. This was also her very first taste of cake. She did such a good job with it too! She kept it as clean as possible and was sure to finish every last bite. I think it is safe to say that she thoroughly enjoyed her first birthday experience.

I brought my nephew a transformers costume. He literally wore it everyday. It just might have been one of the best gifts I have given him yet!

I just love these two kids to pieces. I don't yet have any kids of my own, but I truly love these two as if they are my own. I can't believe how fast they grow. It breaks my heart that we live so far apart. I miss them terribly already!

simply irresitible

Today my beautiful niece, Adelynn, turned one. I dare you to resist her adorable face.
More photos to come this week.

I'm headed back home tomorrow, see you soon hubby!

idaho ♥

Idaho will always be a special place for me.
Idaho is where I grew up.
Idaho is where I made some of my lifelong friends.
Idaho is where my greatest loves are.
Idaho will always have my heart.

Where is this place for you?

i love these faces

The best part of being out west was spending time with family and friends.

It was great because although some of my old friends no longer live in Idaho, they met us in the "middle" and came to Idaho to see us. My favorite friends are the ones that you can go months and months without seeing or maybe even talking to and when you are together, it's like you were never apart.

I was also over the moon to see the kiddos again. I can't believe how much they've grown in the last couple months. Kaleb lost his first tooth and Adelynn is almost crawling. They grow up way too fast. I miss them terribly already.

We got to stay with my sister and brother-in-law in their brand new house. They have joined the ranks of first time homebuyers and they did good. They're house is awesome.

our journey out west and happy weekend.

Here is the story . . .

We started our journey with a drive to the airport.
Jason drove
while I rode.
I knew it was going to be a long night, so I wore my comfy Toms.
After two plane rides, with a stop in Denver,
we made it to Idaho to see this beautiful girl
and this handsome boy.
The end.

Happy Weekend!!
xoxo

sunday market

american eagle top, forever 21 shorts (cut by me), coach purse, aldo sunglasses and shoes

On Sunday we decided to go to the Chattanooga Market since my sister had never been and, believe it or not, I had not been yet since it started this year. The market is one of my favorite places to find unique treasures and fresh produce from local artists and vendors. The market is where I got the earrings I wore here. We saw all kinds of great things from beautiful jewelry to adorable baby clothes to unusual cutting boards all while listening to a bluegrass band play live in the background. Kaleb really enjoyed the balloon man and the Mayfield ice cream and I indulged in some delicious fresh lemonade. We all had a great time and I look forward to visiting the market again soon!
