panama city beach

We are back from the beach and we had a fabulous time.
It is always an adventure when we take a road trip to a new place.  Driving through small towns and back roads and charting unknown (to us) territory.  We felt a little like Lewis and Clark at times.  Only we were going South instead of West.  And we were using a Garmin GPS instead of a compass.  After a half day of driving, saving a turtle, stopping at a sketchy gas station, getting a little turned around (only once) and lots of awesome singing along to the radio, we made it to Panama City Beach.

Most of our time was spent on the beach soaking up sun and enjoying the ocean breeze.  I also quickly got absorbed into The Help (a must read); I can't wait to see the movie now!  We saw a dolphin family (we counted 5), two stingrays, and lots of fish.  From the balcony of our condo, we had an amazing view of the beach and the gorgeous sunsets...oh I miss it already!

We did some exploring at Pier Park where we enjoyed a little shopping and yummy fro-yo.  We were hoping to go out on the pier, but we discovered that they charge you (lame-o) so we decided to just walk along the beach instead.

All in all, we had a wonderful time.  Neither of us had been to Panama City before, so we were glad we are able to check it off our list.  This only means one thing my friends; time to plan our next getaway.  Any suggestions?  Places you have been and loved??

home sweet home

We're back home.
We all miss the beach already; Jack especially.
This was his first time to the beach and he loved it.
His favorite thing to do was jump over the waves.
It's been decided; we need a vacation home in St. Augustine.
More photos to come :)

p.s. a huge thank you to my guest bloggers during pet week! i hope you all enjoyed it!

i'm leaving on a jet plane

don't know when i'll be back again. . .
(sorry for the bad quality airport photo. how dare they have such poor lighting! lol)

. . okay, that's not true. I will be back on Monday. Tricked ya, didn't I?!
I am headed off to the great Northwest to see my sister, brother-in-law and the kiddos.
I. Can't. Wait. to get there!
My niece is turning one this weekend and I can hardly believe it! Also, my nephew does not know I am coming. I just told him that I sent him a special package that will arrive this week. (the package is me, in case you didn't get that).

I am about to board the plane right now, so off I go!!! Wish me safe travels :)

p.s. i miss you hubby and i love you to pieces!!

tybee island

Before we headed home on Saturday, we made a short trip to Tybee Island.
It was refreshing to see the ocean, even if we didn't get to dip in. And the gorgeous weather made it all that much better.
I think the next time we go to Savannah, we will have to set aside a whole day to spend at the beach.
There is something about the ocean that is just so amazing. I would love to have a beach house someday. But only if it was a second home, because I wouldn't want to live there during hurricane season. So maybe we should get one in California...but then there are earthquakes...hmmm. Stupid natural disasters.

One of my favorite things about Savannah was how you can walk or ride your bike almost everywhere.
If I lived in a place that didn't require me to have a car, I would be a-okay.
I felt like we really got to experience every aspect of this lovely town because we were able to walk everywhere. When you are driving, it's easy to miss many of the details that make a town what it is. When you are walking down a street, you actually look in the shop windows and stop in for a look.
Plus, I think I would be in amazing shape if I always walked that much.
I know that Jack would love to live in a place like this.

savannah, ga

Jason and I fell in love with Savannah.
This being our first time there, we weren't sure what to expect. We did have a few bumps in the road with some customer services issues, but we were not going to let it ruin the trip. And it surely didn't.
Savannah is breathtaking. It is rich with character and history. From the unique homes, beautiful neighborhood squares, quaint corner cafes and people riding their bikes and walking their dogs; it made this city quite appealing. Plus I am pretty sure we went at the best time of the year because the weather was perfect.
Savannah is for sure a place that we would love to visit again. And if you ever get the chance to go, I would totally recommend it.
A few spots we especially loved were the Colonial Cemetery, the Firefly Cafe and the Paris Market.

our journey out west and happy weekend.

Here is the story . . .

We started our journey with a drive to the airport.
Jason drove
while I rode.
I knew it was going to be a long night, so I wore my comfy Toms.
After two plane rides, with a stop in Denver,
we made it to Idaho to see this beautiful girl
and this handsome boy.
The end.

Happy Weekend!!
xoxo

jason's big northwest adventure

Our upcoming trip to Idaho will be Jason's second trip to the Great Northwest. But this trip will be his first chance to visit Idaho in the summer time and enjoy what I think is the perfect summer weather in the perfect summer town.

His first trip to the NW was back in December of 2008, which just happened to be our first Christmas as a married couple. He had never experienced a white Christmas before and this trip sure made up for all that snow he missed out on as a kid. We had a great time. I thought I would share some photos from that trip with you.

countdown to coeur d'alene

It is finally time to start the countdown to our vacation out west.
In one week Jason and I will be in my hometown of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
I. Can. Not. Wait.
Ever since I went to California in July, I have been itching to get back in the pacific time zone. I grew up in Coeur d'Alene and it wasn't until college that I moved away.
My sister and bro-in-law live there with their beautiful kids (seen here and here and here). It will be nice to be "home" again. I can't wait to catch up with family and old friends.

If you've never been, it should be on your list of places to go. It is so beautiful.

california girls weekend adventure part I

I am back home from my California adventure and I am happy to report that I had an amazing time with my girlfriends. We enjoyed every minute of each others company and I think we all were in desperate need of a girls weekend. I must say though, it is good to be back home and in my hubby's arms :)

After a long day of travel, I am pretty exhausted. So I have decided to do a mini series this week and share a little bit of my trip with you over the next few days. As for this post, I will just leave you with a picture of the featured faces of the California girls weekend adventure.

Goodnight my lovely friends!!

california love

I arrived safely at LAX last night and received a warm welcome from my best friend Lindsay (read about our last visit here) and her right hand man, Marley. We drove about an hour to Lindsay's house and both she and Marley made me feel right at home. This morning Marley had a mini photo shoot and I wanted to share his cuteness with you all.

Our girls weekend (plus Marley) has officially begun, and it is wonderful. Lindsay has planned a fun time for us and I plan to enjoy every minute. I arrive back home on Tuesday and I will have lots to share with you then.

Happy Weekend!!
