mini-mexi-date

Most nights I dread the thought of making dinner after work.  Add to that the fact that I usually need to go to the grocery store...picture me running for the hills.
So when Jas suggested we go to our fave Mexican spot, El Matador, for 99 cent tacos - I was all about it.  Not only did this save me from work week cooking, but it was a great chance to enjoy a mini-date while my brother was at basketball practice.

our anniversary date

For our anniversary last week, we decided to start with dinner at Jason's Deli.  This is actually the very same restaurant where we went on our very first date over five years ago.  I decided to break away from my usual faves at Jason's and ordered a french dip....I think I am too much of an Arby's junkie because this one just wasn't quite what I was hoping for; it was just okay.  Even still, I had a wonderful time with my hubby.  It's always a treat when we get to go out.
For dessert, we headed over to Melting Pot (thanks again, LivingSocial!).  We each got a plate of yummy treats and chose the Cookies and Cream chocolate fondue.  Oh. My. Word.  It was so incredibly good; I am pretty sure we both got high off of all the sugar.  Neither of us could even finish our plates; it was such a sweetness overload, but so so so so delicious!

date night; dinner and a walk

I'm telling you, LivingSocial and Groupon are genius when it comes to date nights!  I have our date nights planned and purchased for like the next two months, no joke.  This particular date night, we used a LivingSocial deal for dinner at Foodworks, one of our fave restaurants that we don't make it to very often.  The weather was amazing, so we enjoyed our meal on the patio and then decided to take a stroll in Renaissance Park afterward.

I just love these special times with my hubby!  Since he has started school, his free time has been very limited. We try to make sure we take time each week to reconnect and spend quality time together.  Married life is grand :)

sushi date night

Last night hubby and I had a much needed date night downtown.  I had a groupon for Sushi Nabe and we have been dying to use it.  If I could sum up our date in one word: yum!  I tried a Boston Roll for the first time and it was delicious.  Hubby had a rainbow roll and we also had edamame to start.  Our experience at Sushi Nabe was fantastic; everyone was friendly and did I mention that the sushi was delicious?!

After dinner we walked around a little downtown.  We just did a little window shopping and made a short list of restaurants we want to try out.  One of my favorite things about downtown are all the neat little details all around; like dance instructions on the sidewalk and colorful fire hydrants.
And I think we can all say a big hurray because it's almost the weekend!!
What do you guys have planned??

date night in

A few nights ago hubby and I decided to have a date night in.
We tried out Kevin's Burgers for the first time.  It's a little shack-ish place about a mile up the road from our house.
The burgers were HUGE and delicious.  Definitely a new favorite for us.
We also picked up some redbox movies.
This is my idea of a great night :)

it doesn't get cheaper than free

I had a fantastic weekend!
The weather was beautiful and the temperature was perfect.
Saturday night hubby and I had a date night (sorry no photos this time).  We went to Jason's Deli (remember this time we went there?) for dinner; which was free thanks to a gift card from my sister.  We ended the night with a movie, True Grit (it was very good); also free thanks to gift cards from my wonderful in-laws.
Free date night = super awesome

Sunday morning my aunt and I did a 12 mile run in 1:57:29.
I almost can't believe it.
I feel like this past week our running has really been bumped up a notch and we have taken it to a new level.  I think I might even venture to say I am starting to enjoy running.
It has really been a process for me and I believe it is because I have been learning to run.  Just like any other sport, there are different forms and techniques and you really have to find what works best for  yourself. It has taken me a while, but I think I am finally starting to learn and develop a running style that works for me.
Perhaps running will have more of a presence in my future than I thought.

date night deals

This past weekend my hubby and I got dressed up and went out for a date night. We headed downtown and had drinks, dinner and dessert at the Public House. Everything was delicious! I ordered salmon (hands down the best i have ever had) and hubby ordered steak. For dessert we had chocolate chip banana pudding (my mouth is watering thinking about it!). We don't eat out at fancy places very often, so when we do - we always make sure to enjoy!

We used a coupon that I had gotten off of livingsocial - I payed $20 for a $40 gift card. Talk about a deal! If you don't already use livingsocial or Groupon, you need to sign up today!

What are some of your favorite date night ideas?? We are always looking for fun and unique things to do!

i love impromptu date nights

Yesterday evening, hubby and I had to run into town and do a few errands. These errands included returning this gift that hubby got me. ha! I was nervous that there would be a lot of traffic and crowds, but actually it wasn't too bad. It was fun to get out of the house and spend some time with my hubby, even if it was to run errands.

Since the crowds weren't bad, we finished up earlier than I thought. This seemed like the perfect time for an impromptu dessert date night. So off to Olive Garden we went. The OG was packed. Luckily we were just getting a dessert, so we snagged the last two seats at the bar and enjoyed a scrumptious white chocolate raspberry cheesecake while people watching. I can't think of a better way to spend a Monday night :)

just call us hansel and gretel

I have been sick all weekend...again.
Hubby was so sweet and planned an awesome date night in. Isn't he the greatest?!
We had delicious hot chocolate (with marshmallows, of course) and built a gingerbread house; all while watching Elf in the background. This was the first time either of us had built a gingerbread house, and I think we did alright. It was really fun and a little challenging because the frosting didn't always want to cooperate. Also, I thought gingerbread houses were supposed to be edible, but this one wasn't so tasty. Although we did nibble on the candies throughout.
I'd say we did a pretty good job for our first time, wouldn't you :)

i love when my hubby cooks

The next few weeks are going to be a little crazy for me and hubby. And since the weather was rather gloomy and gray, we decided to have a date night in.
Soup seemed like the only appropriate meal for the rainy evening. So hubby made his famous Chicken Dumpling Soup. Yumm-o!!! How did I get so lucky?!
I would say that this is a great way to end a Monday. Now I am off to spend more time with my sexy man :)

I hope your week is going fantastic so far!!

the great date night

Last night hubby and I attended the Great Date Night program put on by First Things First and Chick-fil-a. This was the first time we have ever gone to a program like this and we were pleasantly surprised because we had no idea what to expect.
We went to dinner before hand with some friends who also attended the date night.
At the program we enjoyed some great inspirational speakers such as Gary Smalley and Dan Cathy and awesome music by Michael O'Brien.
It was a great opportunity for us to hear advice and tips on how to continue building a successful and loving marriage and family.
I am so blessed to have such a wonderful husband. We celebrate our two year anniversary next week. Yay!

Aren't these Chick-fil-a cows so cute?! haha

date night with our good dog

We decided to take Jack downtown for our date night.

We walked around the bluff view (seen here) and the riverwalk. Jack is getting so good at being a "good dog" when we venture out of our neighborhood for walks. Hubby and I are proud parents.

The evenings are finally starting to cool down, which makes our walks much more bearable. I love these special times with my hubby. Date nights are the best nights.
