florida, part II

 Like I said in my last post, the main reason for our Florida trip was to see my brother-in-law's high school graduation.  We are so proud of Reuben for reaching this milestone in his life.  His plans for the future are to join the Navy, big kudos to him for making this huge decision.  The graduation ceremony itself was quick and painless - thankfully, because we were sitting on bleachers.  For having 300+ students, they really flew through the program.  There was a chance of rain too, so we were so glad the weather held out for us.

 The day after graduation, we had a lunch for Reuben and three of his friends that he grew up with since they were wee little kids.  They didn't all end up going to the same high school, but they have remained close friends throughout.  I think that is so special and I hope they all stay in touch as they move onto the next chapter of their lives. 

We ate at River Rocks, which was delicious. I should have taken a photo of my food, but I was so hungry that I just scarfed it down without a second thought.  I got fish tacos and french fries - yum! They also put a congrats message on the marque, which was really cool (although they spelled Reuben wrong with Rubin).

Jason and I hopped on a flight to Florida this past weekend to attend my brother-in-law's high school graduation.  Besides celebrating this special event, we knew we wanted to get in some much needed beach time.  So one morning we decided to sneak off to the sand and have a little ocean-side date.  The beach was nearly empty, and after snapping some photos, we just sat next to each other, talked and enjoyed each other's company as we listened to the waves break on the shore.  

Our lives have been pretty hectic and out of whack for the past month or so.  It was almost as if God gave us this moment to get out of the fast lane and regroup and reconnect as a married couple.  It was truly amazing and incredibly refreshing to have this time.  We even managed to sneak in some beach yoga.  For real.  Just what the doctor ordered.

We've headed down south for the holiday; me, Jason, Ryan and Jack. (just me and the boys, love it!)  We are spending Christmas with Jason's family this year, our first Christmas in Florida since getting married. 

When I got off work on Tuesday, we headed out on our overnight trek to Florida...last time we drive overnight I swore I would never do it again.  Someone might become a little miss grumpy pants after several hours in a car with no sleep.  The extra two hours due to traffic never helps either.  I guess in the end it's worth it to have an extra day with family...as long as there is a back rub scheduled in by my mother-in-law (she is the best at it) (I hope she reads this).

While in St. Augustine, we spent a lot of time here - at Butler Beach.

This beach easily took a top spot on one of my favorite places.  It was perfect.

Jack can now add beach dog to his list of reasons why he is so awesome.

I wish I could be back at the beach right now.

This exact spot needs to become an annual trip for us.  I am already looking forward to it :)

We're back home.

We all miss the beach already; Jack especially.  

This was his first time to the beach and he loved it.

His favorite thing to do was jump over the waves.

It's been decided; we need a vacation home in St. Augustine.

busy bee

So far 2011 has been very busy for me.  Between running, work, projects and a little social life; I feel like I have been non-stop.  I kept telling myself that after the half marathon things would ease up and I would have more free time.  Not true.  My busy-ness has only increased.

I haven't had a lot of time to work on the blog, which makes me sad :(

I am hoping to get a little bit better at prioritizing my time so that I can keep my regular posting up.  I will probably have less outfit posts though since hubby will be working overtime in the upcoming weeks, but I hope you all will still love me ;)

princess half marathon expo

First I want to say a huge thank you to Caitlin, Lynn and Sam for being awesome guest bloggers!! You girls rocked it :)

On Friday we headed to the Princess Half Marathon Expo which was held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports.  It was so exciting when we drove into Walt Disney World; I couldn't wait to get to the expo.  At the expo we picked up our bibs and our goodie bags and all of a sudden it all became very official.  I was never really nervous, but just excited and anxious about it all.

We walked through the expo and saw all the latest running gear.  There was a lot of really cool stuff, but the only thing I bought was a 13.1 magnet for my car.  It's in the shape of Mickey ears; very cute.  We got some other free goodies as well.  There were so many people there, it was a little overwhelming trying to walk through the crowds.  I don't know the official number, but I heard there were over 16,000 people participating in the half marathon.  Pure insanity.  It was awesome.

The Braves were at the ESPN Wide World of Sports for their Spring training, so we got to watch them for a little bit after the expo.

This is the an outfit I wore in Florida on Saturday for church and pretty much the rest of the day. I was really excited to finally wear this dress I got from H&M. I got it a little over a month ago when we made a quick stop in Atlanta just to go to H&M; we were on our way home from Savannah, GA. I just love that store!

Some other exciting news: we FINALLY put up our Christmas decorations tonight. I have been thinking about it all. day. long. I smile every time I look over and see our beautiful Christmas tree in the corner. I will be posting pictures a little later this week. Hopefully hubby will have a chance to put up the decorations on the outside of the house this weekend. I just love this time of year :)

We had a fantastic time in Florida. We spent Thanksgiving day at Jason's Aunt's house and it was wonderful. The food was scrumptious.

The conversation was great. I think we were laughing 95% of the time!

The #1 thing I am grateful for is my wonderful, amazing husband. He really has been my rock this year and been there for me through some hard times. Jason, I love you.

Catching up with old friends is always a pleasure. We met up with two of Jason's high school friends, Chelsea and Ben, and they took us to a delicious restaurant and an awesome bar.

They had this really fun hook game at the bar. I'm not trying to brag....but Jason and I won ;)

It makes me happy when Jason can hang out with his good friends. I wish Ben and Chelsea lived closer to us.
