meter reader

My hubby downloaded the FxCamera app on my phone this week and I am so glad he did. It allows me to take pictures with various effects; such as the ToyCam effect seen above.

Today I met up with a friend for lunch downtown Chattanooga. I was excited because I hadn't seen her for a while and I also was in need of a break from the office. I headed down Market St. in search of a parking spot. I knew that I would most likely have to find a meter spot and as I drove down the road I started searching for change. This is always a daunting task because I always seem to have to resort to searching under the seats for any bit of change. After I found a spot about 2 1/2 blocks from the restaurant, I managed to find enough coins to prevent me from having to rush through lunch. It was nice to catch up.

And at last, I have been waiting to say these words all week -

Happy Weekend!!!

the joy of thrifting

This week, by accident, I found a new thrift store (it was new to me, anyway). I really just went there to meet with somebody, but I couldn't help but look around too. I'm so glad I did because I found some really great finds.

The first items that caught my eye were two glass milk jugs. They were the perfect size and the perfect price at 50 cents a piece. I haven't found a permanent home for them yet, but right now one of the is holding some beautiful flowers and the other is on our bakers rack. I can't wait to find the perfect spot for them!

I also found this awesome hunter green vintage belt. It fits perfectly and I am excited to style it with the perfect outfit.

Have you had any good thrift finds lately?

whine and cheese

Today was hump day at work. The middle day in my work week that seems to be lasting forever. It really felt as though it should have been Friday today. Ugh. Does anybody else have weeks that feel this way?

Things have been steadily busy in my life and this stupid sickness bug has been lingering along with me. So my sleep has not been the greatest, thus contributing to my exhaustion. Man, I feel like I sound like a big complainer! lol I don't mean to be whining, but I don't feel all that great, so yes, I will have some cheese with my w(h)ine please - thank you.

hot evening, cool movie

It has been so incredibly hot here lately, so when we decided to do a double date with our friends/neighbors, I figured I would put together a new outfit that would keep me cool. We ate dinner at Jason's Deli and then saw Inception. Whenever we go to the movies I usually bring a sweater since I get cold easily, but I took a chance this time and figured that the cool theatre would feel refreshing (thankfully I was right). We had all heard a great deal of buzz about Inception and we were excited to finally see it. Our verdict: great movie, but you better pay attention. This movie will really blow your mind and I highly recommend it.

warm treats

Today in the late afternoon there was a pretty bad thunderstorm. It was one of those storms where the lighting bolts are defined and the roaring thunder makes you say "oh my" (at least I say that). The storm started when I was at work and continued while I picked up my brother from basketball camp and headed home. When we got settled in at my house, it seemed only natural that we enjoy a cup of hot chocolate. It was the perfect weather for this warm treat.

I love hot chocolate. It is one of my favorite things about winter. There is nothing I love more during the cold months than cuddling up by a fire and enjoying a warm cup of hot chocolate, and of course it's a bonus to have mini marshmallows too.

This past winter I got these awesome mugs, the hug mug, made by Max Brenner. They are so much fun. I also used his hot chocolate mix and marshmallows. Yummy!

debbie upper

On Saturday, I was feeling a bit down and I ended up staying in bed until about noon. Jason had picked up half a shift at work that morning and would get home around 1:30pm. I didn't want to be a debbie downer the whole day so we planned to get out of the house once Jason came home from work. I got myself a little dolled up and we headed downtown to get some frozen yogurt (a.k.a. fro yo) and browse around in all the shops on Frazier Ave.

{ I wasn't in love with the way I looked this day, so I did a little editing to the photos. Don't judge me. lol }

We stopped by n2 shoes and we both picked up our first pair of Toms. They seriously are the most comfy shoes and I love knowing that I am supporting a great cause. If you don't have a pair, you need to go pick some up.

there are never enough days in a weekend

My cat Otis cracks me up. He will find the most random places to curl up and take a nap. Here he is on our towel shelf in our closet (which I should mention that our closet is supposed to be a no animal zone, but still they always seem to sneak in there). I totally felt like this today after work. I felt like I could have fallen asleep anywhere. I have been so exhausted from the mix of a busy week and being sick. I have not gotten much sleep the last couple of nights due to my constant need to blow my nose and cough, ugh.

So I would like to wish you all a wonderful and relaxing weekend! I hope I can hurry up and get over this bug so I can enjoy my weekend too.

**And don't forget to check out my post below and help me choose a paint color!

help! paint opinions, please.

Okay, I have narrowed my paint choices down to four colors and I need your help. Yes, there are only three on the wall, but that is because Ace Hardware did not have a sample jar of color number 4. However, number 4 is just one shade darker than number 1, so I hope you get a feel for what the color might look like. I also included some photos of the rug since it was mentioned that I should use the rug as a guide. I have a color that I am leaning towards, but I don't want to influence any opinions so I will not say. But I would greatly appreciate any and all of your comments and suggestions :)

donut stop

Jason and I headed to Nashville today to pick up my brother and cousin from the airport. They were getting in around lunch time, so we decided to delay lunch a bit so that we could all eat together. Bad idea. I was so hungry. We drove by a Dunkin Donuts and I made Jason turn around asap so I could get a donut. I only intended to get one, but they were having a deal so we ended up getting half a dozen and an iced coffee. I have a soft spot for donuts. It would be hard for me to pick a favorite, but this time I chose blueberry cake, the fluorescent sprinkle one, and a chocolate one - the other three were Jason's.

i have a bug

For the first time, I don't think I have the energy to put into a new post. Why? I think I am getting sick. I woke up this morning with "that" feeling and throughout the day it has progressed. However, I just wanted to give you a quick hello and some pictures so you could see how I am feeling, which is icky. My hubby is just getting over being sick, so I am pretty sure he is the culprit that gave me this bug. Although a few people in my office were also sick - apparently there is a summer sickness going around.

Have any of you been feeling icky too?

thai after work

I didn't get a chance to go home after work, so Jason met up with me for our date night. We decided to get some Thai food for dinner and of course our choice was our favorite place, Rain. We sat in the rain room for the first time and the atmosphere was so cool. We sat on the floor and made sure that we got the full experience. We split a sushi roll for an appetizer and for our main course Jason ordered Panang Curry and I had Pad See Ew. Delicious. We were so hungry that I forgot to take before pictures of the food, but I got a photo of my left overs. I can't wait for lunch tomorrow!

After dinner, we made a quick run to the mall so I could spend my Express cash to get some much needed clothes for work. I am also excited to wear a new outfit to work tomorrow :)

{I thought it was pretty funny how close Jason had the menu to his face}

house project: before

My summer has been pretty hectic so far and I haven't had much time to do any big house projects. Now that things have settled down a bit (knock on wood), I have decided that it is time to start working on our kitchen/breakfast area. I actually got the first piece for this project, the rug, about a month ago (here). We will be painting the big wall and the window wall blue. I will also be getting a new painting and will probably paint the picture frames that are on the wall.

My goal is to have this project done in two weeks. That may sound like a long time, but I am trying to be realistic with our schedules. So stay tuned to see the transformation!

choices, choices, choices

Jack kept trying to get in the pictures, so I gave him a shot all to himself

classic memories

During our pillow talk last night, my hubby and I were reminiscing about some of the old sitcoms we used to watch when we were younger. We were both listing of some of our favorites and often said, "Oh yeah! I forgot about that show, that was a good one!" Although I can't deny the fact that I am a reality t.v. junkie now (Real Housewives, Bethenny Getting Married, The City, and House Hunters to name a few), I truly miss some of the great classics. Every once and a while I like turn on T.V. Land and simply relax and enjoy some timeless television. I think the black and white episodes are probably my favorite.

What are some of the classic shows you used to watch?

This hilarious skit never gets old!

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend!! :)

california girls weekend adventure part IV

My last day in California we headed to Los Angeles, which is where Melissa lives. She took us to the store that she manages, Varga, at Hollywood and Highland Center and we did a little shopping. Of course we did a little photo op in front of the Hollywood sign too. I made sure we did some touristy action and we took a stroll down Hollywood Blvd. I still had a couple souvenirs I wanted to get for Jason, so we hit up a souvenir shop and I got him the cheesiest looking mug I could find and a fantastic award for "Best Husband." I just knew he would get a kick out of them, and I was right because he loved them. And of course, I had to get a photo with my hands in Marilyn Monroe's prints.

After our run on Hollywood Blvd we headed over to High Voltage Tattoo, which is where Melissa's boyfriend works. We couldn't resist, so we took a few pictures in front of his picture which is painted on the outside of the building. In case you are wondering, yes this is the same building as "LA Ink."

We ended our evening with some delicious sushi and the next morning I took a taxi to LAX to catch my flight. All in all, this trip was amazing. It was exactly what I needed to clear my head and just relax. I want to thank my girls for showing me a fantastic time and I love you both to pieces. I can't wait for our next adventure.
