just another sunny afternoon

Last weekend, Jason and I spent some time outdoors enjoying our city.  The weather has been pretty amazing and we have been taking full advantage of it.  The breeze felt fantastic along the Tennessee River and the blooms looked gorgeous against the blue skies.  Of course there were sweets involved - thanks to Groupon we got some yummy fro yo at Top it Off.  It's probably a good thing there is not an ice cream or fro yo place super close to my house...that is definitely my weakness.

paddleboarding

A couple weekends ago, Jas, Ryan and I went paddleboarding with L2 Boards on the Tennessee River.  This was a first for all of us and we had a blast!  I was a little nervous because I really did not want to fall in the water and I am happy to report we all stayed dry.  It was a bit chilly that day and a swim in the cold river did not sound like a good idea.

Paddleboarding would be an awesome hobby to pick up.  It is a great workout and it is actually really relaxing as well.  I would love to spend afternoons out on the water on my very own paddleboard; but I think it would be much more fun in a place like Hawaii.

After paddleboarding, we headed next door to Buffalo Wild Wings because we were starving.  The guys got wings (of course) and I got a yummy chicken pesto pita thingy.  It was a great way to end a fun afternoon/evening.  

date night; dinner and a walk

I'm telling you, LivingSocial and Groupon are genius when it comes to date nights!  I have our date nights planned and purchased for like the next two months, no joke.  This particular date night, we used a LivingSocial deal for dinner at Foodworks, one of our fave restaurants that we don't make it to very often.  The weather was amazing, so we enjoyed our meal on the patio and then decided to take a stroll in Renaissance Park afterward.

I just love these special times with my hubby!  Since he has started school, his free time has been very limited. We try to make sure we take time each week to reconnect and spend quality time together.  Married life is grand :)

sushi date night

Last night hubby and I had a much needed date night downtown.  I had a groupon for Sushi Nabe and we have been dying to use it.  If I could sum up our date in one word: yum!  I tried a Boston Roll for the first time and it was delicious.  Hubby had a rainbow roll and we also had edamame to start.  Our experience at Sushi Nabe was fantastic; everyone was friendly and did I mention that the sushi was delicious?!

After dinner we walked around a little downtown.  We just did a little window shopping and made a short list of restaurants we want to try out.  One of my favorite things about downtown are all the neat little details all around; like dance instructions on the sidewalk and colorful fire hydrants.  

And I think we can all say a big hurray because it's almost the weekend!!

hello long weekend

I'm not gonna lie, this was a pretty rough week.

Thank goodness I have an amazing (and super hot) hubby that won't allow me to end a week on a bad note.

This is what I came home to - beautiful flowers, movie tickets (via groupon), and candy for the movie.

I can't think of a better way to start off a long holiday weekend!!

This weekend I am planning to relax, soak up some sun and of course we'll fire up the grill.
