local honey is no joke

This past weekend, Lindsay and I went to the Chattanooga Market, which is one of my favorite summertime events.  I don't always have something particular in mind I am looking for, but this time around my shopping list consisted of one very important item: local honey.  Last year I was told that it was the best cure for allergies (Allegra doesn't begin to touch my itchy eyes and nose), and boy did it turn out to be true.  This stuff is nothing short of amazing.  With the pollen count holding steady on "high," I figured it was overdue for me to get a jar - only $8, can't beat it!

Afterwards we enjoyed lunch at Greenlife and lots of girl talk.  Don't you just love a great afternoon with your bestie?!  Thanks Linds for a great day :)

Sunday morning, my mother-in-law and I headed down to the Chattanooga Market.  It's been about a month or so since I have gone, so I was happy to take her.  We got there a little early this time, but I am so glad we did because we had a chance to beat the crowd.  

I scored a fabulous pair of earrings and a leather bracelet along with some of my favorite bread (jalapeño and cheese).  My MIL got some delicious peaches and other fresh produce.  

As usual, there were gorgeous flowers and other unique, locally made treasures.

We spent about an hour and a half there and by the time we left, the crowds had managed to get quite a bit thicker.  I have made a mental note to get there about 20 minutes before the official open time in the future.

a trip to the market

This weekend we went to the Chattanooga Market.  The market is the perfect place to find local produce and other neat treasures.  I love browsing through all the booths and seeing all the unique handmade pieces people come up with.  The market is also filled with gorgeous flowers, yummy food and sometimes even local entertainment.

Our main mission this week was to find me some local honey.  My allergies have been killer this season and several people told me that I should try eating local honey.  It is supposed to help your body build immunity to the pollen in your area.  Luckily we found some and I am super excited to give it a try.  Starting today, a teaspoon of honey a day is now a part of my daily diet.

One of our favorite treats at the market is fresh lemonade.  The booth is always conveniently located at the beginning of the pavilion so we always make sure to get a large cup to quench our thirst as we make our way through the market.  mmmmm.  Just typing about it is making me crave some right now!

Aren't these flowers so pretty?!  There's just something about fresh flowers, they always make me smile :)

discoveries at the market

Over the weekend we went to the Chattanooga Market. It has been a while since we have gone and we picked the perfect time to go. It was the Culture Festival weekend.

This time at the market I made two awesome discoveries and for once I actually had cash (thank you yard sale) to splurge a little.

The first thing I found was this unique bead bracelet that was made by women in Uganda. The beads are made from recycled paper and they are really cute. The organization is called Beads for Life and it is a great idea and awesome cause. I got a green bracelet.

The second thing I found was the most delicious vegan apple pocket. Oh my goodness, it was so good that we bought some extra to bring home with us. Jason got the cherry ones. Yummy!!

On Sunday we decided to go to the Chattanooga Market since my sister had never been and, believe it or not, I had not been yet since it started this year. The market is one of my favorite places to find unique treasures and fresh produce from local artists and vendors. The market is where I got the earrings I wore here. We saw all kinds of great things from beautiful jewelry to adorable baby clothes to unusual cutting boards all while listening to a bluegrass band play live in the background. Kaleb really enjoyed the balloon man and the Mayfield ice cream and I indulged in some delicious fresh lemonade. We all had a great time and I look forward to visiting the market again soon!
