poor pinky

We really did have quite the eventful holiday weekend; filled with mostly fun times, but there was one tragic event - my hubby hurt his pinky finger. We were at the park waiting for the 4th of July celebration to start when Jason decided to try and be a good samaritan. A boy had gotten his toy plane stuck up in a tree and they weren't having any luck getting it down. Jason was trying to get it down with a slingshot and on one of his attempts to hit the plane, the rock did not go high enough, so he figured he would catch it on its way down. The rock hit his pinky straight on and created a tiny chip on his bone. Although it was small, it still hurt pretty bad.

Over the weekend, we went out to my cousin's house which is located on a beautiful piece of property. I just love it out there; it is so peaceful and really allows to you to enjoy God's wonderful creations. We even saw a little deer while we were out there and it was so cute. It was just at sunset and we decided it would be the perfect time for a little photo-op. My hubby is so wonderful to put up with all the picture taking; I must say he is becoming quite the photographer.

isn't he just the cutest ;)

boom.

We had two fourth of July celebrations this year; one on the third and one on the fourth. Jason and his brother decided to buy a bunch of fireworks and they put on a fantastic show for us Saturday night. We went out to my cousin's house (which is located on a huge empty piece of property) and invited the whole family. We began by taking fun, creative pictures with sparklers and then they got the show started. Everyone had a great time.

On Sunday night, the fourth, we went to watch the city fireworks at our Veterans Park. We got there pretty early (way too early we found out) to ensure we got a good spot. We melted in the sun for a couple hours, while enjoying food and fellowship with family. The Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra played live and the show began as soon as it was dark enough. The fireworks were awesome. They really put on a good show, I love how the American flag was in the forefront of the fireworks. I think what makes this program so special is that it is in the Veterans Park and it is altogether a great tribute to those that have served our country.

happy fourth of july

I am a huge fan of three day weekends and I am especially excited that this one will involve fireworks. My favorite kind would have to be sparklers. It's always a good time when we celebrate our Independance Day and I am glad that my in-laws are here to share these memories with us. The forecast looks gorgeous and I am looking forward to having a long, fun and relaxing weekend!

I hope you all have a wonderful and safe holiday!!

Happy Weekend :) :)

dun dun dun . . .

. . . the in-laws are on their way (a day early I might add). Okay, that might make it sound like I am not excited, but in reality I love my in-laws to death. I've heard a lot of horror stories about horrible mother in-laws, but I feel like I am incredibly blessed to have a wonderful second mom (that is truly how I feel about her). The only bad part about them coming a day early is that I feel like I didn't have enough time to get the house ready. They haven't been here since Christmas and we have made a lot of changes since then, so I just want our home to look clean and perfect. Jason was awesome (I heart him) and helped me out a ton and I feel like we got the house looking pretty good. They are bringing their pug, Moose, and we are pretty excited for Jack to have a play buddy - oh and they have not met Jack yet either! Basically this visit is a pretty big deal and I can't wait :)
