rain or shine

ya dress from river city apparel, aldo shoes, bcbg purse, umbrella from tjmaxx

This week for our date night we braved what seemed like a monsoon and headed out for dinner. I let Jason pick and he chose Jason's Deli (I bet you couldn't guess it's one of his fav. restaurants!). It would have been nice to sit outside since it is always freezing to me inside Jason's, but the rain prevented that from happening. So we ended up sitting at a booth closest to the door so that I could feel the heat from outside as people walked in. I tried something new this time, but it wasn't too great, which just reminded me of why I always stick to the same thing once I find something I like. Lesson learned, again. Regardless, we had a great time enjoying each others company and of course ended our meal with a delicious ice cream cone like usual at Jason's. I had a fantastic evening spent with the man that I love :)

cat nap

Tina taking a snooze on the couch

If there is one quality of a cat that I wish I had; it would be their ability to cat nap. They can get comfortable in almost any location and in almost any position - it's like an art! Cats have the ability to become refreshed after a short 5-10 minute nap, it doesn't really seem fair does it??

Lately, okay more than lately, it seems that I have just been so exhausted and could take a nap almost everyday. However, lately my naps are few and far between. It's crazy really because when we are kids and our parents force us to take a nap, it seems like the worst thing in the world, and now that I am grown I would give almost anything for someone to force me to take a nap. I think most often I would be good with a 20 minute power nap, but if I actually am able to get comfortable and fall asleep in the middle of the day (on the weekend, of course), three hours later I am awake and half my afternoon is gone. I can't win.

Does anybody else feel this way??

bargain shopper

I would consider myself a great bargain shopper. Ever since we moved into the house I have gotten some awesome and unique finds for great prices. One of my favorite stores to shop at is Homegoods - that may be an understatement because I love Homegoods.

I have been looking for the perfect rug for under our breakfast table, and this weekend I finally found it. I have to admit that it took me a while to commit to the purchase, mostly because I had already done a bit of retail damage, but in the end I decided to go for it. You can always return it, right?! So now that I have it in our house, it is exactly what I was looking for! This purchase is really the first step in my kitchen redecoration, but I think it is a great start.

this is a cell phone picture, so it does not do the rug justice

Homegoods also has a set of dishes that are exactly what I am wanting, but I think it will take quite a bit of convincing to get Jason on board . . . hopefully I can convince him before they are gone! Over the weekend I had also found a painting that would have been great for our living room, but I listened to Jason and waited a day and when I went back it was gone! I was so disappointed, but that was also the day I found the rug so I guess that made up for it :)

chattanooga zoo

On Saturday we braved the heat and humidity and took a trip to our local zoo. This was my first time visiting this zoo and I was quite impressed! We saw a lot of neat and unusual animals and Kaleb really enjoyed it. I love every chance I get to experience something new in our city, so I had a great time. Below are just a few pictures from our day.

SATC 2

Jahnil and I headed to SATC 2

Last night my friend Jahnil and I went to see SATC 2. We had planned to go last week, but I had to cancel because I ended up picking up my sister from the airport. So we headed off to the 8:30pm showing and we were so excited! I heard some mixed reviews about it, but regardless I knew I would want to see it.
What attracts me so much to SATC is definitely the amazing fashion and the excitement of living in New York. In high school I dreamed about going off to college in the Big Apple and experiencing the life of living in such an amazing place - as you can see, that never happened. So in a way SATC allows me to experience the thrilling life of NY.
My thoughts on the movie are that it was okay. I laughed on several occasions, but maybe some of my disappointment is that not enough of the movie was actually in the city. There were some cheesy and unrealistic parts that I found a little irritating. I loved several of Carrie's outfits and it gave me an instant desire to go shopping, which I did today! haha Without question, I liked the first SATC movie better.
Although I wasn't 100% satisfied with the movie, it still renewed my dream to go to NY and spend time in the breathtaking city. Perhaps it is time to start planning a trip ;)
